Rivo’s Scale plan costs $49 a month and includes 400 orders. Every 100 orders after that adds $20, capped at $499 regardless of volume. That one pricing line settles most switching decisions before features enter the conversation. A store running 1,200 orders a month pays $209. At 2,500 orders the bill is $469.
Below roughly 600 orders a month, Rivo is the cheapest app on this list that includes VIP tiers, and staying put is the sensible call. Above 900 orders, four apps do the same job for less money. Every price here was checked against live Shopify App Store listings on 27 October 2026. For the wider category, see the best Shopify loyalty apps hub, and our Rivo review covers the product on its own terms.
Verdict: the best Rivo alternatives
- Love Loyalty is the closest Rivo replacement for stores past 600 orders.
- BON Loyalty wins above 900 orders, and its $129 Growth plan is the flat fee the rest of this comparison is measured against.
- Marsello fits multi-location retail at $120 per connected site, the one pricing model here that ignores order volume entirely.
- Joy handles social earning at $129.
- Smile.io is the fastest launch at $199.
- Growave bundles reviews and wishlist from $15.
- LoyaltyLion is the analytics pick at $199.
What Rivo is built to do
Rivo is a Shopify-only loyalty platform. Points, referrals, VIP tiers, points expiry, bonus campaigns and analytics all sit on the $49 Scale plan. Theme extensions place loyalty content on product pages and inside customer accounts. POS covers 3 locations on Scale and unlimited locations on Plus.
Paid memberships are a Rivo Plus feature on Rivo’s own comparison pages, where they sit alongside checkout extensions and API access, and they require Shopify Payments on the store. Rivo charges no transaction fee on membership revenue. Checkout extensions and the Rivo Developer Toolkit require the same $499 Plus plan. Rivo connects to Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Gorgias and Shopify Flow. It has 4.7 stars from 1,441 reviews, and it does not carry a Built for Shopify badge, a detail that matters for the claims later in this page.
Why merchants are leaving Rivo
1, The overage math turns against you between 900 and 2,600 orders
Rivo bills in $20 blocks once you pass 400 orders. At 900 orders Scale costs $149 and BON’s flat $129 plan is already cheaper. At 2,500 orders Scale costs $469 against Love Loyalty’s $154 and Smile’s $199. The cap at $499 only helps stores that have already climbed most of the way to it.
The other half of that problem sits lower down the ladder. Referrals are a Scale feature, so a merchant on the $15 Essential plan who wants a referral program is moving to $49 before a single overage block lands. The working entry price for a full Rivo program is $49, not $15.
2. They need wallet passes or B2B tiers
Apple and Google Wallet passes are native on Rivo’s higher plans rather than its entry tiers. Customer-segment tiers for B2B and wholesale buyers are still not published. Love Loyalty includes both at $79 and Joy includes both at $129.
3. They need reviews, UGC or wishlist functionality
Rivo does not sell reviews or wishlists. Merchants paying separately for Judge.me and a wishlist app can collapse three subscriptions into Growave’s $15 Entry plan.
4. They want deeper analytics or segmentation
Rivo’s advanced analytics sit on the $499 Plus plan. LoyaltyLion puts RFM data, customer lifetime value and sales-channel exports on its Classic plan at $199.
5. Support availability against the 24/7 promise
A merchant in Portugal, nine days into a paid plan, reported reaching an automated out-of-hours reply twice while paying for a plan that advertises 24/7 human support (EMENTA, 28 May 2026). An Australian merchant reported two weeks of silence in July 2026, and Rivo replied publicly that it could find no support messages from that store. Set against that, named-agent praise is the largest positive theme in Rivo’s reviews, which is what our app-by-app review study found across 25 apps: support dominates both the praise and the complaints. Third-party coverage outside Shopify is thin and inconsistently reported, so the App Store remains the only review corpus worth relying on for due diligence.
How we picked these 7 alternatives
Feature counts are useless for this decision. Five things separate apps like Rivo once you are actually looking for a replacement.
- Cost at your order volume, including overage blocks, which is the arithmetic our cost-at-scale research ran across 12 apps.
- Whether the app includes what Rivo reserves for its $499 Plus plan
- POS depth, measured in locations and in-store redemption, the distinction our POS and omnichannel roundup tracks tier by tier
- Migration effort for point balances and tier status
- Support model, including who answers and when

1. Love Loyalty, best for wallet passes, B2B tiers and a lower checkout ceiling
Growth at $79 covers 2,000 orders and unlocks wallet passes on a cheaper plan than Rivo sells them, plus B2B programs Rivo does not publish at all. Paid memberships carry a 1.8% transaction fee. B2B programs run on Shopify customer segments. Apple and Google Wallet passes are included, which matters for any brand pushing loyalty to a phone lock screen. Plus at $399 adds checkout extensions and API access, a hundred dollars under Rivo Plus. The app has 5.0 stars from 412 reviews and the Built for Shopify badge.
Where Rivo still wins is track record and POS breadth. Rivo has four times the review volume, gives you 3 POS locations on a $49 plan, and charges nothing on membership revenue.
At 2,500 orders Love Loyalty costs $154 a month, or $1,848 a year. Overage on Growth is $15 per 100, so above about 4,100 orders the $399 Plus plan becomes the cheaper Love Loyalty option. See our Love Loyalty review for the full breakdown.
Best for
Stores between 600 and 4,000 orders a month that want wallet passes or B2B tiers without paying $499.
2. Joy, best for gamification and social earning
Advanced at $129 covers 2,000 orders and adds VIP tiers, paid memberships, milestone rewards, a rule engine, POS extension and wallet passes. The differentiator is social. Joy auto-rewards Instagram comments, stories and TikTok follows, which suits fashion and beauty brands running most of their acquisition through those channels. Overage is $10 per 100 orders. Joy has 4.9 stars from 1,788 reviews.
Rivo wins on checkout only in the narrow sense that Joy’s checkout extensions require the $499 Ultimate plan on top of a Shopify Plus storefront. Note that checkout extensibility is a Shopify Plus capability for every vendor on this list, so Rivo is not exempt from it either.
At 2,500 orders Joy costs $179 a month, or $2,148 a year. Compare the two budget-leaning options in our BON Loyalty vs Joy Loyalty comparison.
Best for
Fashion and beauty brands whose earning rules run through Instagram and TikTok.
3. BON Loyalty, best for flat-fee order volume
BON’s $129 Growth plan has no order cap. None. That is the whole argument, and for a growing store it is a strong one, because the bill at 2,500 orders is identical to the bill at 25,000. Growth includes VIP tiers, B2B tiers, streak purchase points, daily check-ins and anniversary rewards. Basic at $29 covers 500 orders with Shopify POS earn and redeem, which Rivo also puts on its cheaper tier. The free plan handles 150 orders and includes checkout redemption for Shopify Plus stores.
BON carries 5.0 stars from 1,965 reviews, the second largest review base on this list after Smile, and none of its 142 support mentions in our study is a complaint. Our BON Loyalty review covers the plan detail. A free plan and a free trial are both available, though neither the listing nor BON’s pricing page states the trial length.
Rivo keeps two advantages. Its free plan allows 200 orders against BON’s 150, and BON publishes no API tier, so headless builds need a conversation with sales.
At 2,500 orders BON costs $129 a month, or $1,236 a year on annual billing.
Best for
Any store above 900 orders a month that wants a loyalty bill that stops moving.
4. Marsello, best for multi-location retail
Marsello prices by connected site. Loyalty Accelerate is $120 a month per site and includes VIP tiers, custom earn options, advanced reward conditions, points promotions and API access, with email and SMS campaigns in the same app. There is no per-order meter, only a fair-use base of 25,000 monthly orders on Launch and 50,000 on Accelerate, so a store anywhere under those ceilings pays the same bill.
Two cautions. Marsello has 4.2 stars from 162 reviews, a much thinner evidence base than anything else here, and it is one of three apps in this list without a Built for Shopify badge, alongside Rivo and LoyaltyLion. Its $60 Launch plan is also the highest entry price among these Rivo alternatives for Shopify.
At 2,500 orders through one site, Marsello costs $120 a month, or $1,440 a year. Two physical stores plus a web store changes that arithmetic completely, so count your sites before comparing.
Best for
Retailers running one loyalty program across several physical locations.
5. Smile.io, best for a simpler launch
Smile is the safe choice when speed matters more than feature depth. The free plan handles 200 orders. Growth at $199 covers 2,500 and unlocks VIP tiers, points expiry, checkout redemption, the Loyalty Hub and unlimited integrations. Smile has 4.9 stars from 4,647 reviews, a Built for Shopify badge and a 2026 Build Award.
Rivo beats it on price in three places. VIP tiers cost $49 on Rivo against $199 on Smile. API access costs $499 on Rivo against Smile’s $999 Plus plan, which bills annually only. And Smile sells no paid memberships at any tier, so subscription-adjacent brands lose a feature by moving.
At 2,500 orders Smile costs $199 a month, or $2,388 a year. Overage above that is $20 per 100, which takes a 5,000-order store to $699. The head-to-head sits in our Smile.io vs Rivo comparison, and our Smile.io review covers the reporting library.
Best for
Teams who want a well-branded program live this week and will not need memberships.
6. Growave, best for all-in-one retention
Growave’s Entry plan is $15 for 500 orders and includes photo reviews, Q&A and wishlist alongside loyalty. For a store already paying for a separate review app, that plan pays for itself on day one. Growth at $199 covers 1,500 orders and adds VIP tiers, points expiry, gift cards and store credit. Plus at $499 brings checkout extensions, a REST API and a JavaScript SDK.
Growave has 4.8 stars from 1,289 reviews. Its weakness is the middle of the curve, where overage runs $15 per 100 orders on Growth. It also sells no paid memberships. Our Growave review covers where the three modules actually meet.
At 2,500 orders Growave costs $349 a month, or $4,188 a year. At 5,000 it is cheaper to move up to Plus at $699 than to keep paying Growth’s overage, which tops out at $724.
Best for
Stores already paying separately for a review app and a wishlist app.
7. LoyaltyLion, best for analytics and segmentation
LoyaltyLion is the only app here built around what happens after launch. Classic at $199 covers 500 orders and includes RFM data, customer lifetime value reporting, sales-channel exports, custom earning activities and an onboarding manager. API and headless API access are on every paid tier, which no other app on this list matches at that price. It has 4.7 stars from 543 reviews.
Cost is the catch. Above 500 orders the plan moves to a custom quote, checkout redemption requires Shopify Plus, and VIP tiers are a paid add-on on Classic. Rivo is cheaper below about 1,150 orders, after which the $199 Classic entry stops being the cheaper of the two. Our LoyaltyLion review and the LoyaltyLion vs Yotpo Loyalty comparison cover the reporting case in more depth.
Best for
Retention teams with someone in-house who will act on RFM and lifetime-value reporting.
What Rivo and each alternative cost at 500, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 orders
Each figure below is the cheapest plan from that app that includes VIP tiers, at monthly list price.
| Orders/mo | Rivo | Love Loyalty | BON | Joy | Marsello | Smile.io | Growave |
| 500 | $69 | $79 | $129 | $129 | $120 | $199 | $199 |
| 2,500 | $469 | $154 | $129 | $179 | $120 | $199 | $349 |
| 5,000 | $499 | $399 | $129 | $429 | $120 | $699 | $699 |
| 10,000 | $499 | $399 | $129 | $649 | $120 | $1,124 | $999 |
Four crossover points matter. Love Loyalty passes Rivo at about 600 orders a month. BON and Joy pass it at about 900. Smile and Growave pass it at about 1,200. Rivo’s $499 ceiling engages at about 2,650 orders and never moves after that, which puts Rivo back ahead of Smile and Growave above 5,000 orders while still sitting well behind BON, Marsello and Love Loyalty Plus.
The practical read is that Rivo is priced for very small stores and for very large ones. Between roughly 1,200 and 2,600 orders a month it is the most expensive mainstream option in this comparison.
These figures use monthly list prices with no annual discount, count all store orders against plan caps, and price Marsello for a single connected site. Rivo’s own pricing page describes Scale as covering up to 2,500 orders with a 7-day trial, which conflicts with the App Store listing. Shopify raises the charge, so the listing terms govern the bill. Full plan detail sits in our Shopify loyalty app pricing comparison.
How to migrate from Rivo to another loyalty app
Point balances export from Rivo as a CSV and import into every app on this list, usually with the new vendor’s support team running the file for you. Tier status does not carry. You rebuild the tiers and reassign members by lifetime spend, which takes an afternoon for most catalogues.
Earning-rule history, theme block placements, issued wallet passes and any Klaviyo flow built on Rivo event payloads all have to be recreated. Plan the sequence in this order. Export balances, build the new program in draft, freeze earning on Rivo for a short window, import the file, swap the theme blocks, then uninstall.
Running both programs live at the same time double-earns customers, so do not overlap them. After uninstalling, open Shopify billing and confirm the Rivo charge has actually stopped. Merchants have reported charges continuing past uninstall, including a Spanish store in August 2026. Our guide to moving loyalty points between Shopify apps documents the import side app by app.
Who should stay with Rivo
Four situations make Rivo the right answer. A store under 600 orders a month that wants VIP tiers gets them for $49, cheaper than anything else here. A store already on Rivo Plus and using the developer toolkit or checkout extensions has no reason to move. A brand running paid memberships on Shopify Payments pays Rivo no transaction fee on membership revenue, which Love Loyalty charges at 1.8%. And a high-volume store above 5,000 orders benefits from the $499 ceiling, which beats Smile and Growave at $699 each.
What to do based on your stage
| Stage | Best pick | Monthly cost | Reason to choose |
| Under 500 orders | Stay on Rivo Scale | $49 to $69 | Cheapest VIP tiers available |
| 500 to 1,200 orders | Love Loyalty Growth | $79 | Wallets and B2B tiers at half Rivo’s cost |
| 1,200 to 2,600 orders | BON Growth | $129 | Order meter disappears |
| 2,600 to 5,000 orders | BON Growth or Love Loyalty Plus | $129 or $399 | Flat fee, or checkout and API |
| Above 5,000 orders | BON Growth | $129 | $370 a month under Rivo’s ceiling |
| Multi-location retail | Marsello Accelerate | $120 per site | 50k fair-use orders, no per-order meter |
| Shopify Plus, checkout redemption | Love Loyalty Plus | $399 | Checkout extensions under Rivo Plus |
Final verdict
The decision comes down to where you sit on the order curve. Under 600 orders a month, Rivo’s $49 Scale plan is genuinely hard to beat and switching costs you money. Past 900 orders, the $20 blocks stop making sense and BON’s flat $129 is the honest answer. In between, Love Loyalty at $79 does more for less.
Rivo alternatives for specific needs. Small stores, Love Loyalty Professional at $12. POS support, Marsello for multiple locations and Love Loyalty Professional for a single one. Lower pricing at volume, BON Growth. Shopify Plus checkout redemption, Love Loyalty Plus at $399. Better analytics, LoyaltyLion Classic.
Small stores under 500 orders have more options in our loyalty apps for small Shopify stores under 500 orders, and free Shopify loyalty apps covers the zero-cost end of the ladder.
FAQs
What is the best Rivo alternative?
Love Loyalty for most merchants leaving Rivo, because its $79 Growth plan covers 2,000 orders and adds wallet passes and B2B tiers. Above 900 orders a month, BON Loyalty’s $129 Growth plan is cheaper and removes order caps entirely. Both cost less than Rivo Scale at any volume above roughly 900 orders a month.
Does Rivo support paid memberships, and which alternatives do?
Yes, on the $499 Plus plan, where the store also needs Shopify Payments enabled. Rivo charges no transaction fee on membership revenue. Love Loyalty offers memberships from $79 with a 1.8% fee, and Joy from $129. Smile.io and Growave sell no membership product at any tier, so both are downgrades on this point.
Which apps offer Rivo-like checkout features?
Rivo puts checkout extensions on its $499 Plus plan, as does every vendor here, because Shopify restricts checkout extensibility to Plus storefronts. Love Loyalty Plus includes them at $399, the cheapest route among these Rivo competitors. Growave Plus and Joy Ultimate both charge $499. Smile.io includes checkout redemption on its $199 Growth plan without the full extension set.
Can Rivo points be migrated to another app?
Yes. Point balances export as a CSV and import into every app covered here, and most vendors will run the import for you during onboarding. Tier status, earning-rule history and theme placements do not transfer and need rebuilding. Freeze earning on Rivo during the switch so customers cannot accumulate points in two programs at once.
Is Rivo suitable for Shopify Plus?
Yes, on the $499 Plus plan, which adds checkout extensions, the Rivo Developer Toolkit, unlimited POS locations and advanced Klaviyo integration. Below that tier, Plus-specific functionality is limited. Love Loyalty Plus at $399 covers comparable ground for less, and LoyaltyLion includes headless API access on every paid tier for Hydrogen builds, which our Shopify Plus loyalty apps roundup compares directly.
Is Rivo worth it at my order volume?
Under 600 orders a month, yes. Scale at $49 to $69 is the cheapest VIP-capable plan in this comparison. Between 900 and 2,600 orders, no, because overage pushes the bill to $469 at 2,500 orders while BON charges $129. Above 5,000 orders the $499 ceiling becomes competitive again.
