Best Shopify Loyalty Apps for Subscription Brands (2026)

A store with 600 monthly subscribers processes 600 renewal orders before making a single new sale. Almost every loyalty app awards points for those renewals. But very few allow a subscriber to apply those points to next month’s box without manually pasting a discount code into a customer portal.

That operational gap separates the best Shopify loyalty apps for subscription brands from the rest. For most growing brands, Love Loyalty on its Growth plan is the top pick. Appstle Loyalty fits stores already using Appstle Subscriptions. LoyaltyLion integrates directly with Recharge, and Yotpo puts rewards right inside Loop’s portal.

We compared seven apps based on their subscription integrations, where rewards actually redeem, and pricing.

Quick picks

  • For subscription brands on Growth: Love Loyalty
  • For stores on Appstle Subscriptions: Appstle Loyalty
  • For a subscriber-only tier on Recharge or Skio: LoyaltyLion
  • For native Shopify Subscriptions: Joy
  • For rewards inside Loop’s portal: Yotpo

Here’s how the seven compare on rating, price and the subscription apps each one connects to.

How we ranked the best Shopify loyalty apps for subscription brands

Every app here earns points on a purchase. So we judged each one on what happens after the first order.

  • Integration depth: which subscription apps it connects to, and whether the vendor documents the setup.
  • Where rewards redeem: on the next renewal or inside the subscription portal, or as a code the subscriber pastes in.
  • Subscriber features: tiers, bonuses or challenges built for people who stay subscribed.
  • Plan gate: the cheapest plan that includes VIP tiers and the subscription integration together.

The 7 best Shopify loyalty apps for subscription brands

1. Love Loyalty

Best for: Subscription brands on Growth

Rating: 5.0 (394 reviews) | Price: $0–399/mo | Free trial: 14 days

Love Loyalty is an all-in-one loyalty app with the Built for Shopify badge (as of 26 Oct 2026). It connects with Recharge, Skio, Appstle and Shopify Subscriptions. Loyalty data lives in Shopify metafields, so the storefront reads balances natively without loading an outside script, and Shopify Flow can apply points earned on one renewal to the next order. For subscription brands moving from a few hundred subscribers to a few thousand, the Growth plan covers everything in this article’s checklist. Our Love Loyalty review goes through every plan in detail.

What you get

  • Points on renewals: subscribers earn on every recurring order from Recharge, Skio, Appstle or Shopify Subscriptions.
  • Redemption on the next order: Flow automations apply earned points to the following renewal, so subscribers don’t paste codes.
  • Paid memberships: sell a monthly or yearly membership on Growth, next to the subscription box itself.
  • VIP tiers and bonus campaigns: both start on Growth, along with B2B programs and Apple and Google Wallet passes.
  • Shopify POS: included from Professional at $12 a month, for brands that also sell at markets or in stores.

Merchants write about Love Loyalty’s rewards more than most. In the study’s results by app, rewards features come up in 52.2% of its 186 written reviews, almost twice the 27.2% category average. One merchant, La Jewelista, wrote in May 2025 that “customers can redeem points for a discount % on their next order” (Shopify App Store).

Watch out for

  • Growth includes 2,000 orders, then $15 per extra 100 orders.
  • Paid memberships carry a 1.8% transaction fee on Growth, dropping to 0.8% on Plus.
  • Checkout extensions and API access start on Plus at $399 a month.

Cost at your volume

  • 1,000 orders: Growth at $79 a month, with VIP tiers and memberships.
  • 2,500 orders: Growth at $154 a month, including $75 of overage.
  • 5,000 orders: Plus at $399 a month, with unlimited orders and checkout extensions.

2. Appstle Loyalty

Best for: Stores on Appstle Subscriptions

Rating: 5.0 (1,448 reviews) | Price: $0–300/mo | Free trial: Yes

Appstle Loyalty comes from the team behind Appstle Subscriptions. Its listing names six subscription apps it works with: Appstle Subscription, Recharge, Seal, Bold, Recurpay and Yotpo Subscriptions. VIP tiers start at $30 a month, and the review study recorded no one- or two-star reviews for it in the 24-month window.

What you get

  • Subscription coverage: six subscription apps named on its Shopify listing.
  • VIP tiers and store credit: both start on Business at $30 a month, with points expiry included.
  • Migration: white-glove migration from other loyalty platforms on every plan.
  • No transaction fee: Appstle lists 0% on all plans.
  • Support: 83.2% of its 179 written reviews in the study mention support, against a 70.6% average.

Watch out for

  • Shopify POS starts on Starter at $10. Klaviyo list sync starts on Business.
  • APIs and webhooks start on Enterprise at $300 a month.
  • The listing names the subscription apps but doesn’t document how redemption works in each portal.

Cost at your volume

  • 1,000 orders: Business at $30 a month.
  • 2,500 orders: Business Premium at $100 a month, covering up to 5,000 orders.
  • 5,000 orders: Business Premium at $100 a month.

3. LoyaltyLion

Best for: A subscriber-only tier on Recharge or Skio

Rating: 4.7 (543 reviews) | Price: From $199/mo, custom | Free trial: 14 days

LoyaltyLion’s Recharge integration lets you create a tier that customers join while Recharge tags them as active subscribers. Discount rewards can go straight onto an existing subscription from the loyalty page. It also connects with Skio, Loop, Smartrr and Stay.ai. LoyaltyLion bills on orders from new customers, which helps a store where most volume is renewals.

What you get

  • Subscriber tier: customers move into a dedicated tier while their Recharge subscription is active.
  • Rewards on the next box: discount rewards apply to an existing subscription from the loyalty page.
  • Subscription Challenges: reward customers for staying subscribed.
  • Skio portal: points and rewards can show inside the Skio customer portal.
  • API access: on every paid plan, including headless.
  • Rewards focus: 59.9% of its 142 written reviews in the study mention rewards, 2.2 times the average.

Watch out for

  • Subscription integrations start on Advanced, which is a custom quote. Classic starts from $199 a month.
  • VIP tiers are an add-on on Classic and included from Advanced.
  • Redeeming points at checkout needs a Shopify Plus store.

Cost at your volume

  • Classic starts at $199 a month for 500 new-customer orders, plus $10 per extra 100.
  • Classic caps existing-customer orders at 2,000. Advanced raises that to 4,000.
  • Advanced and Plus are quoted, so ask for a price at next year’s subscriber count.

4. Joy

Best for: Native Shopify Subscriptions

Rating: 4.9 (1,789 reviews) | Price: $0–499/mo | Free trial: 14 days

Joy connects to Recharge on every plan, and it has a documented setup for Shopify’s own Subscriptions app. You can award points for subscribing and for each renewal, using a “Subscription order” condition in its rule engine. On Recharge, redeemed codes sync to the Recharge portal, according to Joy’s Recharge guide. The Joy Loyalty review covers its plans in more depth.

What you get

  • Recharge on all plans: points on renewals and code sync to the portal, usually within minutes.
  • Shopify Subscriptions: a separate reward program for subscribing and renewing.
  • Paid membership: included on Advanced at $129 a month.
  • VIP and B2B tiers: both on Advanced, along with POS and wallet passes.
  • Shopify Flow and metafields: from Essential at $29 a month.

Watch out for

  • Joy’s docs don’t say whether redemption works on Shopify Subscriptions orders.
  • Unused discounts on a cancelled Recharge subscription can’t be applied to that subscription.
  • Checkout extensions need Ultimate at $499 a month and a Shopify Plus store.

Cost at your volume

  • 1,000 orders: Advanced at $129 a month.
  • 2,500 orders: Advanced at $179 a month, including $50 of overage.
  • 5,000 orders: Advanced at $429 a month, still below Ultimate at $499.

5. Yotpo

Best for: Rewards inside Loop’s portal

Rating: 4.7 (971 reviews) | Price: $199–599/mo, Premium custom | Free trial: No

Yotpo redeems inside the customer portal on Loop, according to Loop’s integration list. On Recharge, Yotpo’s integration adds bonus points for each subscription purchase and for staying subscribed a set number of orders. Yotpo also sells Yotpo Subscriptions, which Appstle Loyalty supports as well.

What you get

  • Loop portal redemption: subscribers spend points without leaving Loop’s portal.
  • Retention bonuses: extra points for each subscription purchase and for reaching a renewal milestone.
  • Recharge integration: on every plan, including Free.
  • Shopify POS and Klaviyo: both on every plan.
  • Checkout redemption: from Pro.

Watch out for

  • VIP tiers and free-product rewards start on Premium, which is a custom quote.
  • The free plan is limited to stores with under 100 monthly orders.
  • Pro prices rise by order band, from $199 at 500 orders to $599 at 5,000.

Cost at your volume

  • 1,000 orders: Pro from $299 a month, without VIP tiers.
  • 2,000 to 3,000 orders: Pro from $399 to $499 a month.
  • 5,000 orders: Pro from $599 a month. VIP tiers need a Premium quote.

6. Rivo

Best for: Referral discounts on Recharge renewals

Rating: 4.7 (1,443 reviews) | Price: $0–499/mo | Free trial: 14 days

Rivo’s Recharge integration runs on all plans. It imports Rivo discounts into Recharge and shows loyalty data in the portal. It also applies an advocate’s referral discount to their own subscription orders automatically. On Loop, Rivo redeems inside the customer portal. For a brand that grows through referrals, that removes a manual step.

What you get

  • Referral rewards on renewals: referral discounts apply to the advocate’s subscription orders automatically.
  • Portal data: loyalty balances show in the Recharge portal.
  • Loop and Skio: documented setups for both, with portal redemption on Loop.
  • VIP tiers and points expiry: both start on Scale at $49 a month.
  • Overage cap: Scale overage stops at $499 a month.

Watch out for

  • Referrals and VIP tiers both start on Scale. Free and Essential don’t include them.
  • Scale includes 400 orders, then $20 per extra 100.
  • Checkout extensions and Klaviyo custom events need Plus at $499 a month.

Cost at your volume

  • 1,000 orders: Scale at $169 a month.
  • 2,500 orders: Scale at $469 a month.
  • 2,500 orders on Plus: $499 a month, with a custom quote above that.

7. Growave

Best for: Loyalty plus reviews on Recharge or Loop

Rating: 4.8 (1,290 reviews) | Price: $15–999/mo | Free trial: Yes

Growave bundles loyalty with reviews and a wishlist. Recharge and Loop are on every plan, and its Recharge page adds Appstle Subscriptions. You can set separate earning and redemption rules for one-time orders and subscriptions, so subscribers can earn at a higher rate. The Growave review has the full plan breakdown.

What you get

  • Separate subscription rules: different points rates for subscriptions and one-time purchases.
  • Reviews in the same app: photo reviews and review requests on every plan.
  • Subscription integrations: Recharge and Loop from Entry, plus Appstle Subscriptions.
  • VIP tiers and store credit: both start on Growth at $199 a month.
  • Shopify Flow: on every plan.

Watch out for

  • Subscription discounts apply to the first subscription cycle only, per Growave’s Recharge page.
  • Entry allows one integration, and Growth allows three.
  • Checkout extensions and the REST API start on Plus at $499 a month.

Cost at your volume

  • 1,000 orders: Growth at $199 a month.
  • 2,500 orders: Growth at $349 a month, including $150 of overage.
  • 5,000 orders: Plus at $699 a month, including $200 of overage.

Also considered

  • Smile: connects to Recharge and Loop and earns points on renewals. VIP tiers start on Growth at $199, and lower plans allow one or two integrations.
  • BON Loyalty: documents Seal and Recurpay. Other subscription apps need a check with BON’s support.
  • Okendo Loyalty: redeems inside Loop’s portal, with plans from $99 a month for 200 orders.
  • Toki: sells paid memberships from $49 a month, but documents no subscription-app integration.

If your stack also needs Plus-only or tier-heavy features, our Shopify Plus loyalty apps list and VIP tiers comparison go deeper on both.

What to look for in a loyalty app for subscription brands

Start with redemption. A renewal is a normal Shopify order, so points land on it with almost any app. Spending them is harder, because the subscription app builds the next charge and has to accept the discount. Some loyalty apps push the reward into the subscriber’s next order. Others hand over a code, and the subscriber has to find the portal and paste it. Loop’s help center shows the gap. All 13 loyalty apps it lists redeem on subscriptions, but only seven redeem inside the customer portal.

Then check how long a discount lasts. Growave’s Recharge page says its subscription discounts apply to the first subscription cycle only. Ask any vendor the same question before you build a “points off every box” reward.

Renewals also count toward order caps. Read the cap on the plan you need at next year’s subscriber count, and use our Shopify loyalty app pricing comparison for the full numbers.

Decide too whether the loyalty program should be a subscription itself. Paid memberships charge a monthly or yearly fee for perks, which gives a box brand a second recurring revenue line. Love Loyalty, Joy and Toki all sell them.

Last, test the integration before you trust it. In Magicbean’s study of 3,410 Shopify App Store reviews, only 8.4% of written reviews mention integrations. Among one- and two-star reviews, reliability comes up in 36.7%, about double the overall rate, and “points, emails or sync not working” is one of the top reliability complaints.

Which loyalty app fits your subscription brand?

A growing brand on Recharge or Skio, shipping 1,000 to 2,000 orders a month, should choose Love Loyalty on Growth at $79 a month. It covers VIP tiers, paid memberships and wallet passes, with 2,000 orders included. Past that you pay $15 per extra 100 orders, until the $399 Plus plan works out cheaper.

A brand on Appstle Subscriptions, Seal or Bold should look at Appstle Loyalty. Its Business plan at $30 a month includes VIP tiers and 2,000 orders. APIs and webhooks wait for Enterprise at $300.

A larger Recharge or Skio brand that wants subscribers in their own tier fits LoyaltyLion, from $199 a month on Classic. Subscription integrations and Subscription Challenges sit on Advanced, which is a custom quote, so expect a sales call before you know the final cost.

A brand on Loop that wants rewards in the portal fits Yotpo on Pro, from $199 a month at 500 orders. Rivo also redeems in Loop’s portal and costs $49 a month on Scale, though overage starts after 400 orders.

Bottom line

Love Loyalty on Growth is the strongest fit for most growing subscription brands. Pick by where rewards redeem, because every app here already earns points on renewals. Before you install, run a test renewal on a development store and confirm the reward shows on the next order. Then check that your email flows pick up the new balance, with help from our Klaviyo loyalty integration guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Shopify loyalty app for subscription brands?

Love Loyalty is the best fit for most growing subscription brands. Its Growth plan at $79 a month covers Recharge, Skio, Appstle and Shopify Subscriptions, plus VIP tiers and paid memberships. LoyaltyLion suits larger Recharge brands, and Yotpo suits Loop stores that want portal redemption. Our full list of Shopify loyalty apps covers stores without subscriptions.

Do loyalty points work with Recharge subscriptions?

Yes, most loyalty apps award points on Recharge renewals because each renewal is a Shopify order. Redemption varies more. LoyaltyLion applies rewards to an existing subscription, Joy syncs codes to the Recharge portal, and Rivo shows balances in the portal. Smile and Stamped redeem on subscriptions, but not inside Loop’s portal.

Do subscription renewals count toward a loyalty app’s order limit?

Yes, most loyalty apps count every renewal toward the monthly order cap. Love Loyalty Growth includes 2,000 orders, Joy Advanced includes 2,000 and Growave Growth includes 1,500. LoyaltyLion bills on orders from new customers, so renewals from existing subscribers don’t drive most of its bill.

What’s the difference between a paid membership and a subscription?

A paid membership charges for perks, and a subscription charges for products. A membership might give free shipping and double points for $10 a month, while a subscription ships a box. Love Loyalty, Joy and Toki sell paid memberships inside the loyalty app, so they can run alongside Recharge or Skio.

Will I lose point balances if I switch loyalty apps?

No, if the new app imports them before you uninstall the old one. Export customers, balances and tiers, import them, then check a sample of subscribers. Appstle Loyalty includes white-glove migration on every plan. In Magicbean’s review study, 86% of reviews describing a switch praised the support or migration help. Our guide to moving loyalty points between Shopify apps has the steps.

What should I do after choosing a loyalty app for my subscription store?

Run a test renewal on a development store before going live. Earn points on a subscription order, redeem them, and confirm the discount lands on the next charge in your subscription app. Then set a separate earning rule for subscribers, so you can track their redemption rate apart from one-time buyers.
